10:25 AM EDT, 10/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with the company's response in the fourth paragraph, share move in the fifth paragraph.)
Charter Communications ( CHTR ) is laying off about 1,200 employees in a bid to streamline operations, news outlets reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The job cuts will impact just more than 1% of the company's total workforce and will be related to corporate management positions, the sources reportedly said.
This comes as the cable giant faces mounting pressure from telecom carriers offering bundled internet and 5G mobile plans, according to reports.
A Charter Communications ( CHTR ) spokesperson confirmed the Wall Street Journal report on the matter to MT Newswires but declined to comment further.
Shares of the company were down nearly 2% in recent Wednesday trading.
