Deere (DE) is recalling 147,900 compact utility tractors due to brake failures that led to crashes, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a notice Thursday.
The recall involves 1023E, 1025R and 2025R models. Deere has received six reports of brake failures, which resulted in one hospitalization and two impact injuries, according to the company.
CPSC also said that an additional 16,800 tractors were sold in Canada.
"Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers," Deere said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires. "For this reason, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, we are voluntarily issuing a recall to address a potential crash hazard on John Deere ( DE ) 1023E, 1025R, and 2025R Compact Utility Tractors purchased from November 2017 through July 2024. The front bellcrank in the brake linkage can fail causing the tractor to lose braking, resulting in a crash hazard."
