A Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) regional jet operated by SkyWest ( SKYW ) performed a go-around before landing safely on Friday to avoid a potential midair collision with another aircraft spotted in its flight path, a SkyWest ( SKYW ) spokesperson confirmed to MT Newswires in an email Monday.

SkyWest ( SKYW ) flight 3788, en route to Minot, North Dakota, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, was cleared for landing by the tower when another aircraft came into view, the spokesperson said.

"We are investigating the incident," the spokesperson said.

The other aircraft was a US Air Force B-52 bomber, several media outlets reported.
