Update: Fifth Third Bancorp Shares Rise After Q3 Earnings Beat

Fifth Third Bancorp ( FITB ) shares rose 3% in recent Friday trading after the company posted higher-than-expected Q3 financial results.

The company reported Q3 earnings Friday of $0.91 per diluted share, up from $0.78 a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $0.86.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30, expressed as the sum of net interest income and total noninterest income, was $2.31 billion, compared with $2.14 billion a year earlier.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected $2.29 billion.
