02:02 PM EDT, 10/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with company statement in the second and third paragraphs.)
Frontier Group Holdings' ( ULCC ) Frontier Airlines pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, or ALPA, have voted in favor of authorizing a strike if necessary, ALPA said Tuesday.
The company, however told MT Newswires that "ALPA cannot legally implement a strike at this time," not until all other legal options are exhausted, including approval from National Mediation Board.
But, the company remains committed to negotiating in good faith to reach a deal that supports both its pilots and the company, Frontier added.
The union said the vote shows that the pilots are ready to act in case of a negotiation breakdown with Frontier's management.
"Negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement have yet to yield a market-based contract that aligns with industry standards and reflects the contributions of Frontier pilots," ALPA said.
