GE Vernova ( GEV ) shares were down 1% in recent trading Monday, partially recovering from a selloff Friday, after a blade from one of its turbines failed at the Dogger Bank A offshore wind farm in the UK.
No person was injured due to the incident, Dogger Bank said in a statement on its website Thursday. Dogger Bank is a joint offshore wind project of SSE Renewables, Equinor and a subsidiary of Eni.
GE Vernova ( GEV ) has initiated an investigation into the cause of the blade failure at the construction site, the statement added. The wind turbine manufacturer has had two similar incidents at two separate wind projects in recent months, Reuters reported earlier.
"On Aug. 22, a turbine at the Dogger Bank wind farm experienced an isolated blade event that occurred during commissioning," a GE Vernova ( GEV ) spokesperson told MT Newswires. "No injuries occurred, and GE Vernova's ( GEV ) Wind Fleet Performance Management team has initiated investigation protocols into the event in coordination with our customer."
Dogger Bank did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
