Update: Intel Products Should Undergo Security Review in China, Industry Group Reportedly Says

Intel ( INTC ) has allegedly "constantly harmed" China's national security and interests, and the products it sells in the country should undergo security review, the Cybersecurity Association of China said, according to multiple news reports Wednesday.

The industry group warned that Intel ( INTC ) chips, including Xeon processors used for artificial intelligence tasks, carry cybersecurity risks, the reports said. Intel ( INTC ) "has major defects when it comes to product quality, security management," Reuters reported, citing the group's post.

"Security has long been a top priority for Intel ( INTC ), and we go to great lengths to protect our customers," an Intel ( INTC ) spokesperson told MT Newswires. "We look forward to working with the relevant officials on this matter to clarify any questions that may exist and demonstrate Intel's ( INTC ) deep commitment to the safety and security of our products."
