US District Judge James Donato on Monday ordered a permanent injunction against Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Play for Epic Games' Sherman Act, Cartwright Act and California Unfair Competition Law claims.
The injunction is effective over a three-year period starting Nov. 1, outlining a series of changes that Google ( GOOG ) is required to implement in its Play app store to open it up to greater competition.
The changes include restrictions on revenue sharing agreements, acceptance of other payment methods apart from Google Play Billing, and access of third-party Android app stores to Google Play's catalog, among others.
Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
According to Reuters, Google ( GOOG ) plans to appeal the verdict that paved the way to the injunction.
