Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is under investigation by the US Federal Communications Commission for the alleged marketing and selling of unlawful electronic devices, Reuters reported late Wednesday, citing an FCC spokesman.

"We have several ongoing investigations into retailers, including Amazon ( AMZN ), for potential violations of commission rules related to the marketing and sale of equipment without proper FCC authorization," an FCC spokesperson said Thursday in an emailed statement to MT Newswires.

NBC News reported Wednesday that online retailers, including Amazon ( AMZN ) third-party sellers, were offering radio frequency jammers in violations of federal laws banning the sale of such devices the general public.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
