Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) updated Alexa will be powered by Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence models, rather than the company's own Titan AI, Reuters reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report said Amazon ( AMZN ) plans to charge $5 to $10 per month for the upgraded "Remarkable" version of Alexa when it is unveiled in October while offering the ordinary voice assistant for free.

In a statement emailed to MT Newswires, Amazon ( AMZN ) said Alexa is tapping into many different technologies. "When it comes to machine learning models, we start with those built by Amazon ( AMZN ), but we have used, and will continue to use, a variety of different models-including Titan and future Amazon ( AMZN ) models, as well as those from partners-to build the best experience for customers," the company said.
