Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Amazon Web Services cloud-computing unit has stopped orders of Nvidia's ( NVDA ) "superchip" to wait for a new, more powerful model, the Financial Times reported Tuesday, citing AWS.
AWS has "fully transitioned" its previous orders for the chip giant's Grace Hopper superchip, which was launched in August, and replaced them with its successor, Grace Blackwell, AWS reportedly told the FT.
The move "made sense" as "the window between Grace Hopper and Grace Blackwell was small," the news outlet reported, citing AWS.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) declined to comment, according to the FT.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) declined MT Newswires' request for comment, while Amazon ( AMZN ) didn't immediately respond.
Amazon ( AMZN ) shares were down 1.1% in recent trading, while Nvidia ( NVDA ) was up 0.2%.
