Apollo Global Management ( APO ) has offered to invest as much as $5 billion in Intel ( INTC ) , Bloomberg News reported Sunday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The sources said Intel ( INTC ) executives have been considering Apollo's proposal. The size of Apollo's potential investment could change or discussions could fall apart, Bloomberg reported.

Intel ( INTC ) and Apollo did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Apollo gained 0.2%, while Intel ( INTC ) added more than 2% pre-bell Monday.
