The Netherlands said Tuesday that ASML ( ASML ) needs export licenses to send China software updates for microchip production equipment that are not under restriction, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the foreign ministry.

The move was meant to align Dutch policy with that of the US, the report said.

In an email to MT Newswires, ASML ( ASML ) described the rules as "standard in export control regulations" that are "not specific for ASML ( ASML ) at all."
