Bain Capital is in talks to take education-software provider PowerSchool Holdings ( PWSC ) private in a deal that may value the company at $6 billion including debt, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

A deal could come together in coming weeks, people familiar with the matter said, though it is still possible the talks could not lead to any transaction, the Journal reported.

Bain Capital and PowerSchool ( PWSC ) declined to comment to MT Newswires.

Shares of PowerSchool ( PWSC ) jumped 19% in recent trading.
