08:11 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with a response from Boeing ( BA ) in third and fourth paragraph.)
Boeing ( BA ) could face a protracted labor action as striking members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers say they are in it "for the long haul," Reuters reported Thursday, citing an interview with lead negotiator Jon Holden.
The parties remain in a deadlock after negotiations fell through Tuesday, with Boeing ( BA ) pulling its recent pay offer, according to the report. Reuters said the strike is approaching its one-month mark and that the labor action has halted the company's production of its 737 MAX, 767 and 777 jets.
When asked by MT Newswires for a comment, Boeing ( BA ) referred to its Tuesday letter to employees announcing the breakdown in negotiations.
Stephanie Pope, chief executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in the letter that they are willing to continue talks with the union "when they are ready to bargain an agreement that recognizes our employees and preserves our company's future."
