Update: Market Chatter: Bunge's $8 Billion Viterra Buyout May Be Delayed
Jul 11, 2024 11:22 AM

01:59 PM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Adds details in the third paragraph.)

Bunge's (BG) $8 billion acquisition of Viterra may be delayed because Canada, China and the European Union haven't yet approved the deal, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The deal is unlikely to get done by Bunge's mid-2024 target. The delay is because of antitrust concerns in various countries and the deal is now expected to close by the end of the year, the report said, citing one of the people.

Bunge remains publicly committed to its target date, Bloomberg reported.

Bunge and Viterra didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

Bunge shares fell 0.6% in recent trading Thursday.
