08:59 AM EDT, 10/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Update with Thyssenkrupp's response in the second paragraph.)

Carlyle Group ( CG ) has withdrawn from the bidding process for the warship division of Thyssenkrupp, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing an email from the German industrial engineering and steel production company.

"We can confirm that the private equity firm Carlyle Group ( CG ) has informed us that it is withdrawing from the bidding process for a stake in the marine division of Thyssenkrupp," a Thyssenkrupp spokesperson said to MT Newswires via email. "Despite Carlyle's withdrawal, we remain committed to the path we have taken to make Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems independent."

Carlyle did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
