The Carlyle Group ( CG ) is in advanced talks to acquire Vantive from Baxter International ( BAX ) for over $4 billion, including debt, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the situation.
Carlyle and Baxter entered exclusive talks in late June, and a deal could be announced in the coming weeks, the Journal reported, citing the people.
The negotiations could still fail or another bidder could succeed, the report said.
Baxter previously said that the proposed separation of Vantive was expected to occur in H2.
Shares of Carlyle were slightly lower in recent trading, while Baxter rose 4%.
