Update: Market Chatter: Carlyle-Backed Varo Energy in Talks to Acquire Preem's Two Refineries in Sweden
Dec 6, 2024 5:41 AM

08:18 AM EST, 12/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Preem's response in the third paragraph.)

Carlyle Group ( CG )-backed (CG) Varo Energy is in discussions to buy Preem's Gothenburg and Lysekil refineries in Sweden, Reuters reported Friday, citing four unnamed industry sources familiar with the plan.

Financial terms of the deal weren't clear because the downturn in Europe's refining margins has complicated transactions, the report added, citing one of the sources.

Preem declined to respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment, while Varo Energy did not respond.
