03:26 AM EDT, 10/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with a response from UnitedHealth ( UNH ) in the fourth paragraph.)
CVS Health's ( CVS ) Aetna unit has more than 81% of members in top-rated programs, and UnitedHealth ( UNH ) has 78%, according to the US government's 2026 quality ratings, Reuters reported Thursday, citing data released by the government.
Meanwhile, Elevance (ELV) has only 55% of members in top plans and Humana (HU) 20%, according to figures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and companies cited by Reuters.
The percentages determine bonus payments potentially worth billions of dollars from the government to health insurers, the report said.
UnitedHealth ( UNH ) said in a response to MT Newswires that it continues "to have more members in plans rated 4-star or higher than any other carrier in the industry."
CVS referred MT Newswires to a statement in which it said that the rating reflects its "strong fundamentals" and commitment to delivering care. An Elevance spokesperson said in response to an MT Newswires' request that the company is pleased with its progress and sees "these results as validation of the strategic investments" it has made.
Humana and the regulator did not reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
