Ecopetrol S.A ( EC ) is considering direct participation in Colombia's first-ever offshore wind auction, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the company.

"Ecopetrol ( EC ) is carrying out the technical, economic and legal analyses of its potential participation in the offshore wind auction process," the company said, according to Reuters.

The company is talking with some unnamed potential partners since the auction requires Ecopetrol ( EC ) to participate with a partner, the report said.

Colombia's National Hydrocarbons Agency will accept registrations for the auction until June 21, according to the report.

Ecopetrol ( EC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
