10:05 AM EDT, 06/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Cofece's response in the fourth paragraph.)
Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is set to face a ruling by Mexico's antitrust regulator by June 17 on whether the tech giant created an illegal monopoly in digital advertising in the country, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing documents it viewed.
The Federal Economic Competition Commission, or Cofece, could penalize Google ( GOOG ) by 8% of its annual Mexican revenue, the report said.
Cofece requested that Mexico's Tax Administration Service, or SAT, provide it with Google's ( GOOG ) financial records, the news outlets said, citing a timeline of updates on the case's history.
As the case is still continuing, Cofece is unable to offer additional information at this time, a Cofece spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email late Tuesday.
Google ( GOOG ) did not respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
