11:29 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with response from Hyatt Hotels ( H ) in third and fourth paragraphs.)

About 13,500 unionized hotel workers are planning to hold strike authorization votes in four US cities next month as negotiations with Marriott International ( MAR ) , Hilton Worldwide ( HLT ) and Hyatt Hotels ( H ) have failed to progress, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the Unite Here union.

The votes will begin in the first week of August in Boston, San Francisco, Honolulu and Providence, Rhode Island, according to the report.

Hyatt Hotels ( H ) is willing to negotiate and has prepared contingency plans to prevent operational disruptions across the country, Hyatt Hotels' ( H ) Americas head of labor relations Michael D'Angelo said in an email to MT Newswires.

"We are disappointed that several UNITE HERE locals have chosen to take strike votes," he said. "We have contingency plans in place so that hotel operations across the country are not impacted, and we expect to continue to provide all services should there be activity."

Marriott International ( MAR ), Hilton Worldwide ( HLT ) and Unite Here did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
