HP (HPQ) and Dell Technologies ( DELL ) are among PC makers considering using memory chips made by Chinese manufacturers for the first time amid a global supply squeeze that may delay product launches and boost costs, Nikkei Asia said Thursday, citing three people with knowledge of the matter.
The US companies have started qualifying products from chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies, the report said.
Dell declined to comment, while HP didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
