Eli Lilly ( LLY ) is nearing a deal to acquire privately held Scorpion Therapeutics, valuing the Boston-based company working on potential cancer treatments at around $2.5 billion, according to the Financial Times, citing sources.

A deal could be announced in coming days, the sources told the newspaper.

Lilly declined to comment to MT Newswires, while Scorpion Therapeutics did not immediately respond.
