04:44 AM EDT, 10/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Micron's response in the third paragraph and the latest stock price movement in the fourth paragraph.)
Micron Technology ( MU ) intends to stop supplying server chips to Chinese data centers following the business' failure to recover from a 2023 government ban on its products in critical infrastructure in that market, Reuters reported Friday, citing two people briefed on the decision.
The company will continue to sell chips to laptop maker Lenovo and another Chinese customer, which both have notable data center operations outside of China, according to the report. Micron will also continue selling chips to companies in the automobile and cell phone sectors in that market, Reuters reported, citing one of the sources.
The Cyberspace Administration of China's 2023 decision has "impacted" Micron's data center business in that market, the company said. "Micron values its customers in China, and we continue to provide our portfolio of industry-leading DRAM and NAND products to our customers, while respecting and abiding by applicable laws and regulations everywhere we do business."
Micron shares were up 3% in recent premarket activity Monday.
