Micron Technology ( MU ) is in talks with Japan Display to acquire an LCD panel production plant in Japan, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Micron, which is one of the companies in discussions with Japan Display, could use the facility to assemble and test chips, the report said.

"Micron does not comment on rumors," the company said in an email to MT Newswires.

Japan Display did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
