09:48 AM EST, 12/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Qatar Airways' response in the fourth paragraph.)
Boeing's ( BA ) 737-10 model no longer meets the fleet requirements of Qatar Airways and the airline is seeking to remove the aircraft from its order book, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
With an order for 25 737-10s, Qatar Airways is mulling switching to 737-8s and would likely hand those planes to partners including Virgin Australia and RwandAir, which are already using the model, the sources said.
The airline may take more 787 planes from Boeing ( BA ) as part of the switch, the people reportedly said.
Qatar Airways told MT Newswires in an email that the airline has "nothing further to add" to what has already been reported, while Boeing ( BA ) did not respond to requests for comment.
