03:19 PM EDT, 10/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with SerpApi's response in fourth paragraph, Reddit ( RDDT ) share movement in sixth paragraph.)

Reddit ( RDDT ) filed a lawsuit in federal court against four companies for allegedly stealing data by scraping Google search results that showed Reddit ( RDDT ) content, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The lawsuit filed at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York is seeking a permanent injunction and financial damages against Nvidia ( NVDA )-backed (NVDA) Perplexity, and data scrapers SerpApi, Oxylabs and AWMProxy, according to the report.

SerpApi, Oxylabs, and AWMProxy allegedly sold data to artificial intelligence companies, the report said, citing the filing.

A SerpApi spokesperson told MT Newswires that the company "strongly" disagrees with Reddit's ( RDDT ) allegations and intends to defend itself in court.

Reddit ( RDDT ), Oxylabs, AWMProxy, Perplexity and Nvidia ( NVDA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Reddit ( RDDT ) were down over 4% in recent Wednesday trading.
