06:24 AM EDT, 10/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with SAP's response in the fifth paragraph.)
The US Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear SAP's (SAP) appeal seeking to dismiss an antitrust lawsuit filed by Teradata, allowing the case to move forward, Reuters reported.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals had revived the suit in 2024, finding Teradata raised valid claims that SAP tied sales of its business-planning software to purchases of its database, potentially violating US antitrust law, according to the report.
Teradata filed the case in the California federal court in 2018. A trial is set for April 2026 on both Teradata's claims and SAP's patent counterclaim.
Meta Platforms ( META ) and Microsoft ( MSFT ) backed SAP's position in a friend-of-the-court brief, the report said.
"We are disappointed the Supreme Court has declined to review these important legal issues," a SAP spokesperson said in a statement e-mailed to MT Newswires. "We remain confident in our position, reject Teradata's claims and look forward to resolving the matter in the trial court."
