Sony ( SONY ) is considering selling its cellular chip unit as part of a shift toward its entertainment segment, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the matter.

The company is in the early stages of working with investment banks to explore a possible sale of Sony Semiconductor Israel, the report said.

The unit generates about $80 million in annual recurring revenue and could be valued at close to $300 million in a potential deal.

Potential buyers may include private equity firms and companies in the semiconductor industry, according to the news outlet.

Sony ( SONY ) shares were up 4.8% in recent trading.
