Federal prosecutors are investigating a claim brought by GSK (GSK) that Pfizer ( PFE ) delayed announcing the success of its Covid vaccine in 2020 until after that year's election, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
"We cannot comment because we have not received any inquiry from authorities about a so-called 'delay,' but Pfizer ( PFE ) remains ready, willing, and able to explain why any allegation of impropriety is utter nonsense," a Pfizer ( PFE ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an emailed response. "The COVID-19 vaccine development process was driven by science and guided by the U.S. FDA back in 2020."
"We have consistently and transparently reiterated the facts and the timeline of the tireless work of scientists, regulators, and thousands of clinical trial volunteers who made the vaccine possible," the spokesperson added. "Theories to the contrary are simply untrue and being manufactured."
GSK did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
