Walgreens Boots Alliance ( WBA ) is in talks to be acquired by private-equity firm Sycamore Partners, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Walgreens did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

The company's shares rose nearly 20% in recent trading.
