Warner Bros. Discovery ( WBD ) is shutting down video game studios Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. Games San Diego in a move to increase its profitability, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing a memo to staff.
The move includes stopping work on a Wonder Woman title, according to the report.
A Warner Bros. Games spokesperson confirmed the closures as well as the decision to halt work on the Wonder Woman videogame in a statement to MT Newswires. "After careful consideration, we are closing three of our development studios - Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said the company's decision to close the studios represents "a strategic change in direction and not a reflection of these teams or the talent that consists within them." The company remains focused on "getting our Games business back to profitability and growth in 2025 and beyond," the spokesperson added.
