The Biden administration is considering additional restrictions on China's access to chip technology used for artificial intelligence, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The new restrictions will limit China's ability to use gate all-around chip architecture and are aimed at increasing the difficulty of assembling systems for building and operating artificial intelligence models, the people reportedly said.
Intel ( INTC ) , Nvidia ( NVDA ) , Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) , Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) and Samsung Electronics plan to start mass-producing chips with GAA design next year, according to the report.
The White House, Intel ( INTC ), Nvidia ( NVDA ), ADM, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
