NerdWallet ( NRDS ) was the victim of a fraudulent bankruptcy claim filed on its behalf in federal court, the company said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires.

"NerdWallet ( NRDS ) did not file for bankruptcy," a spokesperson for the company said. "This is a fraudulent filing and we are actively investigating the situation."

According to Reuters, the electronically filed bankruptcy claim was filed by Robert Johnson and listed a Buffalo, New York address.
