Aug 20, 2025 4:32 AM

07:12 AM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with response from Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) in third paragraph.)

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) has introduced a global hiring freeze across all markets and departments, except for business-critical roles, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing a company spokesperson. The report stated that new Chief Executive Maziar Mike Doustdar signaled potential job cuts last month as part of a broader revamp, adding that the company needed to exercise greater discipline and prudence in its spending.

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) employs more than 78,000 people worldwide and currently lists more than 400 open positions, mainly in China and the US. The company has eight vacancies in Denmark, where Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) added 5,500 jobs last year, local media outlet Berlingske reported Wednesday.

A company spokesperson confirmed the hiring freeze to MT Newswires in a statement on Wednesday.
