Nvidia ( NVDA ) said late Monday that it is expanding its collaboration with BYD and other Chinese EV makers who are adopting its Drive Thor system, an in-vehicle computing platform designed for generative AI applications.
The system can deliver "feature-rich cockpit capabilities, plus safe and secure highly automated and autonomous driving, all on a centralized platform," Nvidia ( NVDA ) said.
BYD also intends to use the company's AI infrastructure for cloud-based AI development and training technologies, including Nvidia Isaac and Nvidia Omniverse platforms, the semiconductor manufacturer added.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Separately, the South Korean semiconductor supplier SK Hynix said it has started mass production of the fifth generation of high-bandwidth memory chips to be delivered to an unnamed customer this month.
The initial shipments of the chips will go to Nvidia ( NVDA ), Reuters reported late Monday, citing unnamed sources.
SK Hynix declined MT Newswires' request for comment, while Nvidia ( NVDA ) did not respond.
