Patriot Battery Metals ( PMETF ) over the weekend reported the discovery of a large zone of cesium mineralization at the CV13 pegmatite within the Shaakichiuwaanaan property in Quebec.
Drill highlights from CV13 include 10.6 meters at over 1.00% cesium oxide and 7.1 meters at over 1.00% cesium oxide.
"Cesium pegmatite occurrences over 1% (cesium oxide) are very rare and represent only the most fractioned and evolved portion of a pegmatite body," said Darren Smith, Patriot's vice president of exploration.
The company said the principal and largest of the cesium zones is coincident with the high-grade Vega lithium zone and can be traced in drill hole over an extensive area of 600 meters by 400 meters, ranging in thickness from 1-2 meters to at least 10 meters.
Meanwhile, the second zone is associated with the apex of the structural flexure at CV13 and is estimated through drilling to be at least 250 meters by 50 meters in area and up to several meters thick.
"Although the focus for the company is lithium pegmatite and advancing CV5 to production, there is a clear opportunity to potentially delineate a (cesium) zone of significant scale," Smith said. "Moreover, given the scarcity and value of cesium, there is a strong potential to further enhance stakeholder value."
Patriot shares were last seen up $0.07 to $2.52 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
