Reddit ( RDDT ) filed a lawsuit against Anthropic, alleging the AI startup used its data without a licensing agreement, according to media reports Wednesday.

"We will not tolerate profit-seeking entities like Anthropic commercially exploiting Reddit ( RDDT ) content for billions of dollars without any return for redditors or respect for their privacy," Reddit ( RDDT ) Chief Legal Officer Ben Lee said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires.

An Anthropic spokesperson told MT Newswires via email, "We disagree with Reddit's ( RDDT ) claims and will defend ourselves vigorously."

Reddit ( RDDT ) shares rose 7.2% in recent trading Wednesday.
