The company reported Q2 non-IFRS earnings late Monday of 1.10 euro ($1.20) per basic share, up from 0.69 euro a year earlier.
Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected EPS of 1.09 euro.
Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was 8.29 billion euros, up from 7.55 billion euros a year earlier.
