Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) , American Airlines ( AAL ) and United Airlines (UAL) were among the US carriers that canceled flights early Monday due to Storm Blair, FlightAware data showed.
A total of 1,651 flights within, into, or out of the US have been canceled as of late Monday morning while more than 2,600 flights were delayed, according to FlightAware.
Southwest ( LUV ) canceled 367 flights, American Airlines ( AAL ) had 183 canceled flights while United and Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) canceled 84 and 49 flights, respectively, FlightAware said.
Southwest ( LUV ), American Airlines ( AAL ), United, and Delta also issued travel advisories warning clients that services may be disrupted due to the storm.
"We are preemptively managing our schedule to match reduced capacity at airports affected by Winter Storm Blair," a Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email.
Southwest ( LUV ) is also providing "flexibility" for clients based on the forecasted weather conditions, the spokesperson said, adding that travelers who intend to change their travel schedule may rebook or travel standby within 14 days of their "original travel date, between the original city pairs, and in accordance with our accommodation procedures" without extra fee.
An American Airlines ( AAL ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email that the carrier will keep clients' and team members' "safety top of mind."
A United Airlines spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email that it has "waivers" for passengers traveling to, from, or through affected cities.
A Delta spokesperson said the airline canceled several flights in advance of and due to the winter storm and that service will resume when the weather and operating conditions allow.
