10:59 AM EDT, 09/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates to include a comment from Stellantis ( STLA ) in the last two paragraphs.)
Stellantis ( STLA ) is facing federal labor charges filed by the United Auto Workers, or UAW, with the union claiming that the automaker is "illegally" refusing to provide information about product commitments it made in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement for 2023.
The UAW said it filed "federal unfair labor practice charges" on Monday with the National Labor Relations Board.
Charges also include contract grievances pertaining to Stellantis' ( STLA ) attempt to move the production of Dodge Durango vehicles outside the US, which violated the UAW's national agreement, as well as delays in reopening the Belvidere assembly plant, among others, said the union.
A spokesperson for Stellantis ( STLA ) told MT Newswires that the company has not received the filing and has not reviewed the charges. The spokesperson also said Stellantis ( STLA ) has not violated commitments under the 2023 collective bargaining agreement with the UAW.
Stellantis ( STLA ) is "attempting to carefully manage" bringing new vehicles to market and will inform the UAW of its plans "at the appropriate time," the spokesperson added.
