Update: Stellantis to Retain 1,100 Ohio Jeep Employees Slated for Layoffs
Dec 24, 2024 5:14 AM

07:53 AM EST, 12/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates attribution to Stellantis ( STLA ) and adds remarks from the company in the last paragraph.)

Stellantis ( STLA ) has opted to retain the employees slated to be laid off at an Ohio Jeep factory, the company said in a statement sent to MT Newswires on Tuesday

The company announced 1,100 layoffs last month but has changed course following the exit of its former Chief Executive Carlos Tavares. Reuters first reported the change of course on Saturday.

"As Stellantis ( STLA ) continues to reassess its strategy in North America, the Company has decided to extend the WARN notice that was issued in November for the Toledo South Assembly Plant," the company said. "As a result, no employees will be placed on indefinite layoff on Jan. 5, 2025, due to the previously announced shift reduction. Employees are expected to return to work as scheduled after the new year."
