Update: Taiwan Semiconductor Sues Former Executive Over Non-Compete Agreement
Nov 25, 2025 4:39 AM

07:20 AM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Taiwan Semiconductor statement starting in the first paragraph.)

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) said in a 6-K filing Tuesday that it has filed a lawsuit against its former senior vice president Wei-Jen Lo in the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court, claiming damages for breach of contract.

TSMC said Lo retired from the company on July 27 after serving as senior vice president since 2014 and subsequently joined Intel ( INTC ) as executive vice president. Although Lo had not been responsible for supervising or managing Research & Development since March 2024, when he was reassigned to Corporate Strategy Development, he allegedly continued to convene meetings with R&D staff, seeking information "to understand the advanced technologies currently, and planned to be, under development by TSMC," the company alleged.

"There is a high probability that Lo uses, leaks, discloses, delivers, or transfers TSMC's trade secrets and confidential information to Intel ( INTC )," TSMC said in the filing.

The company said the legal action is based on the terms of employment contract and non-compete agreement, and regulations such as the Trade Secrets Act.

Intel ( INTC ) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
