Update: Tesla Must Face Negligence-, Fraud-Based Claims Over Self-Driving Features, Federal Judge Rules

Negligence- and fraud-based claims against Tesla (TSLA) regarding its alleged misrepresentation of its vehicles' autopilot capabilities may go forward "to the extent they rely on representations regarding the car's hardware and imminent cross-country driving abilities," Judge Rita Lin ruled Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

Shares of Tesla fell 1.5% in recent trading Wednesday.
