Tesla (TSLA) is facing a probe by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, regarding the adequacy of its fix to Autopilot after recall of over 2 million vehicles announced in December.

The auto safety regulator closed its previous investigation into the efficacy of the Autopilot feature and launched a new probe into the fix.

The company filed a defect information report in December that said the system's controls were potentially inadequate to prevent driver misuse and proposed solutions to enhance driver warnings and reduce mode confusion.

The recall investigation includes all Tesla models with Autopilot.

Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comments.
