Update: T-Mobile US Gets FCC Approval to Acquire Mint Mobile
Apr 25, 2024 12:34 PM

03:13 PM EDT, 04/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with additional details from second paragraph onwards.)

T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) on Thursday received the Federal Communications Commission's approval to purchase budget wireless provider Mint Mobile.

The FCC's order also approves transfer of 214 authorizations held by Mint Mobile and UVNV, which operates Ultra Mobile, to T-Mobile from Ka'ena, according to the regulator.

The approval is conditional on T-Mobile implementing a 60-day unlocking period for all Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile devices activated on its network, the FCC added.

The commission noted that the transaction will eliminate double marginalization and reduces Ka'ena's costs of serving customers.

T-Mobile, Mint Mobile and UVNV did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
