Update: Toyota Pauses Production at Japanese Plants Due to Typhoon

Toyota Motor ( TM ) is halting production at almost all of its Japanese factories due to typhoon Shanshan, a company spokesperson told MT Newswires on Wednesday.

"We can confirm that almost all of our plants in Japan have been temporarily shut down due to Typhoon Shanshan," a Toyota ( TM ) spokesperson told MT Newswires.

The move will affect the plants' second shift on Wednesday and the first shift on Thursday, the spokesperson said.

Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that Typhoon Shanshan, which is approaching the southwest coast of the country, is expected to have a maximum sustained wind speed at its center of about 180 kilometers (112 miles) per hour.
