Update: Uber in FTC Crosshairs Over Customer Issues with Uber One Subscriptions
Nov 27, 2024 2:02 PM

04:42 PM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates report throughout with company statement.)

Uber Technologies ( UBER ) is the subject of a Federal Trade Commission investigation that the ride-hailing company makes canceling subscriptions to its Uber One service overly difficult and over other potential consumer protection laws, a company spokesman confirmed to MT Newswires Wednesday.

Uber ( UBER ) is cooperating with the probe. "We will continue to answer any questions the FTC may have about our cancellation policies," the spokesman said, adding the most Uber One subscribers can cancel their subscriptions in 20 seconds or less.

The spokesman also disputed assertions in a Bloomberg report, which first reported the FTC investigation, that the company was signing up Uber One subscribers without their consent.

The FTC did not immediately respond to a request from MT Newswires on Wednesday seeking comment.
